What an online consultation is
An online consultation is a full clinical appointment held over a secure video link. It follows the same structure as an in-person session: assessment, formulation, treatment planning, and regular review of progress. Nothing about the clinical work is reduced because the medium is a screen.
A private meeting link is shared with you before your session. You join from a quiet, private space at the agreed time, and the session runs for the same length as an in-person appointment.
Who online sessions suit
Online consultation suits people who live outside Lahore or Islamabad, those whose work or family schedules make travel difficult, clients who feel more comfortable speaking from their own space, and overseas Pakistanis who prefer to work with a psychologist who understands their cultural context.
It also suits difficulties where travel itself is part of the problem — severe anxiety about leaving home, physical health limitations, or caregiving responsibilities that cannot be left.
There are situations where in-person care is preferable, and this is discussed honestly during booking or assessment. Where a medical examination or crisis-level support is needed, online work alone is not sufficient and that is stated plainly.
What can be treated online
Most of the concerns seen in clinic translate well to video: anxiety and panic, depression, overthinking and rumination, sleep difficulties, relationship and marital concerns, work stress and burnout, grief, self-esteem, and adjustment to life changes.
Skills-based work — breathing regulation, cognitive techniques, behavioural planning, relaxation training and guided hypnotherapeutic work where appropriate — can all be delivered effectively online. Between-session practice tasks are agreed and reviewed exactly as they would be in person.
How to prepare for your first online session
Choose a private room where you will not be overheard or interrupted, and let household members know you need the time undisturbed. Use headphones if others are nearby — they improve both privacy and audio quality.
Test your internet connection, camera and microphone beforehand, and keep your phone charged or plugged in. Have water nearby, and a notebook if you like to jot things down.
Treat the session as an appointment, not a call: be seated, settled and ready a few minutes early. The quality of your attention shapes the quality of the work.
Privacy and confidentiality online
Confidentiality online carries the same professional and legal protections as in-person care. Sessions are not recorded by the practice. Your responsibility on your side is the physical privacy of your space; mine is the security of the platform and the confidentiality of everything discussed.
The limits of confidentiality — principally a serious risk of harm to you or someone else — are explained at the outset, exactly as they would be in the clinic.
Booking an online consultation
You can request an online appointment through the booking form on this website or by sending a WhatsApp message. Timing is agreed in advance, a secure link is shared before the session, and fees and session length are confirmed at booking.
If you are unsure whether online sessions suit your situation, ask before booking — a short conversation can settle the question honestly.
Common questions
- Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
- For most common concerns, research and clinical experience show comparable outcomes, provided sessions are consistent and you have a private space and stable connection. Some situations are better served in person, and that is discussed openly at assessment.
- What platform is used for online sessions?
- A secure video platform is used, and a private meeting link is shared with you before each session. Sessions are not recorded.
- Can I have hypnotherapy online?
- For suitable presentations, yes. Suitability is decided at assessment — guided relaxation and focused-attention work can be delivered effectively over video for many clients.
- What if my connection drops during a session?
- We reconnect, or continue by audio if needed. A dropped connection does not lose your session time — arrangements are made to complete the appointment properly.
