Tayyab Murtaza, Clinical Psychologist and Hypnotherapist, in his consultation room

Tayyab Murtaza is a Clinical Psychologist and Hypnotherapist whose practice is built around one principle: therapy should be shaped around the person sitting in the room, not the other way around. His work spans psychological assessment, psychotherapy and hypnotherapeutic techniques, delivered in a confidential and unhurried setting.

He brings six years of therapeutic experience to the work. Day to day, he supports adults living with anxiety, low mood, overthinking, panic, trauma-related difficulties, relationship distress and sleep problems. Each course of work begins with a structured assessment so that the approach, pace and goals are agreed together rather than assumed.

Alongside talking therapy, he integrates mind–body relaxation, mindfulness-based techniques and — where clinically appropriate — hypnotherapy, NLP and EFT/tapping methods. Where a concern is well suited to it, he offers focused short-term psychological support designed to bring early progress through structured therapy, always at a pace that is right for the person.

He also leads professional education and training at Fatima Hope and Psychological Centre, delivering workshops, seminars and structured programmes for students and practising clinicians.

6 years of therapeutic practice and 1,000+ clients supported through psychological and therapeutic services, in person and online.

How the work looks in practice

Illustrative examples of therapeutic work

The examples below are composite illustrations written to show how a course of therapy is typically structured. They are not individual client records, and no personal or identifying details of any client are used.

Anxiety & panic

An adult with recurring panic episodes

Assessment identified a cycle of feared bodily sensations and avoidance of crowded places. Work combined psychoeducation, controlled breathing and paced re-exposure to avoided situations, with progress reviewed session by session.

Low mood

A young professional with persistent low mood

Sessions began with a structured assessment of sleep, routine and self-critical thinking. Behavioural activation, cognitive work on harsh self-evaluation and relapse-prevention planning formed the core of the therapy.

Sleep & stress

Sustained work stress affecting sleep

Therapy addressed workload boundaries, night-time rumination and irregular sleep routines, supported by mind–body relaxation and, where appropriate, hypnotherapeutic relaxation techniques.
